Course Overview:
This interactive session, delivered by a specialist nurse trainer, provides essential training on caring for individuals with epilepsy. You will learn to recognise the different types of seizures, understand how to safely care for someone during a seizure, and explore treatment and emergency management strategies.
Our specialist trainer will guide you through practical demonstrations, and there will be plenty of opportunities for questions.
Who Should Attend:
This course is suitable for healthcare staff who care for individuals with epilepsy, including:
- Community nurses
- Healthcare assistants
- Support workers
- Other healthcare staff involved in epilepsy care
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Understand what epilepsy is and what happens in the brain during a seizure
- Recognise the different types of seizures and their triggers
- Identify the signs and symptoms when someone is having a seizure
- Safely care for someone during a seizure
- Understand the risks and preventative measures for epilepsy management
- Identify the available treatments to control seizures
- Provide emergency care for epilepsy, including understanding when and why to call emergency services
