Copy of Rescue breaths for an infant (child under 1 year)
Head and Chin Position:
- Ensure the infant’s head is in a neutral position (not too tilted back or forward) and perform a chin lift to open the airway.
Mouth-to-Mouth and Nose Seal:
- Take a normal breath, then place your lips over both the infant’s mouth and nose, forming a good seal.
Delivering Rescue Breaths:
- Blow steadily over 1 second, making sure the chest rises visibly.
- After each breath, remove your mouth from the infant’s mouth and observe the chest fall as the air exits.
Repeat the Sequence:
- Repeat this process 5 times (1 breath every 3 seconds) before continuing with chest compressions.
