Copy of Rescue breaths for child over 1 year

Head and Airway Positioning:

  • Pinch the soft part of the nose using the index finger and thumb of the hand placed on the forehead.
  • Open the mouth slightly while maintaining the chin lift by gently tilting the head backwards.

Mouth-to-Mouth Seal:

  • Take a normal breath and place your lips fully over the child’s mouth, ensuring a good seal.

Delivering Rescue Breaths:

  • Blow steadily over 1 second, ensuring the chest rises visibly.
  • Move your mouth away and watch for the chest to fall as air exits.

Repeat the Sequence:

  • Give 5 initial rescue breaths (one breath every 3-5 seconds) before starting compressions.
